Your vehicle’s clutch and flywheel are essential for transferring power smoothly from the engine to the gearbox.

Worn or damaged components can affect performance, make gear changes difficult and potentially cause further damage if left untreated.

If you notice any of the following warning signs, book your vehicle in for a clutch and flywheel health check with one of our technicians:

Clutch slipping during acceleration – the engine revs increase, but the vehicle does not accelerate as expected. This often indicates a worn clutch plate.

Difficulty changing gears – stiff, notchy or difficult gear changes may be caused by a worn clutch, pressure plate or release bearing.

Juddering when pulling away – vibration or shaking when setting off can indicate clutch contamination, uneven wear or a damaged flywheel.

Rattling or knocking noises – unusual sounds when the clutch pedal is pressed or released may point to a worn release bearing or dual-mass flywheel.

Clutch pedal feels different – a pedal that feels unusually soft, heavy, loose or sticks to the floor could indicate a hydraulic or clutch component fault.

Burning smell – a strong burning smell, particularly after accelerating or driving uphill, can be a sign that the clutch is overheating or slipping.

Vehicle struggles to move smoothly – hesitation, loss of drive or poor power delivery may mean the clutch or flywheel requires repair or replacement.
