Brakes

Car brakes are one of the most important safety systems on your vehicle. Worn or faulty brakes can significantly reduce braking performance and put you and others at risk. If you notice any of the following warning signs, you need to book your vehicle in for a health check with one of our technicians:

  • Squealing or grinding noises when braking - this indicates worn brake pads or metal-to-metal contact damaging the discs.

  • Vibration through the steering wheel or brake pedal - often caused by warped or worn brake discs.

  • Soft or spongy brake pedal - this can be a sign of air in the system or contaminated brake fluid.

  • Brake warning light on the dashboard - this signals a fault in the braking system and should be checked immediately.

  • Vehicle pulling to one side under braking - this may indicate uneven brake wear or a seized brake calliper.

  • Increased stopping distance - this is a clear sign of reduced braking efficiency.

Advanced Brake Skimming Technology

At Station Road Service Centre we believe in replacing parts only when necessary - saving you money without compromising safety or quality. Using advanced on-car brake disc skimming technology, we can restore worn discs to perfect condition, removing run-out and uneven surfaces, by shaving off a thin layer of the brake disc.

It’s an efficient alternative to replacement that gives your brakes a new lease of life.

It is important to get your brakes checked as soon as the warning signs present themselves, as this can only be carried out if they are within the minimum thickness specifications. If not, then the only option is replacement.
